The Gross-Siebert program is a general method to construct mirror manifolds. In this talk I will introduce the techniques for the surface case and explain how one can deduce algebraic equations for the mirror by studying combinatorics of certain piecewise linear objects. The additional information needed is a count of lines in the surface and I will explore a hard case where such lines come in infinite families.
