We investigate various aspects of the cohomology of symmetric powers of the Kloosterman connection. Despite the appearance of irregular singularities in the connections, the pure parts of the cohomology spaces are indeed realizations of classical motives. Nevertheless our methods are by exploring the irregular Hodge theory and exponential motives. In particular we determine the associated Hodge numbers and the period matrices. This is joint work with Javier Fresán and Claude Sabbah.
