In this talk, we introduce the formal deformation theory and compute some examples. We give the notion of functors of Aritn rings and formal elements of them; in particular we state Schlessinger's theorem, which provides conditions for a functor of Artin rings to be prorepresentable. As an example, for a given algebraic scheme we compute the tangent space of its locally trivial moduli functor, and show that it satisfies some of Schlessinger's conditions.
