I will discuss some results and open problems on the vallue distribution of entire curves in terms of geometric invariants and its arithmetic analogues, and applications. In the both cases, the degeneracy theorems are deduced as an application of S.M.T. of Noguchi-Winkelmann-Yamanoi and a theorem of Faltings-Vojta. We also deal with not only the divisor case but also the case of algebraic cyles of higher codimension (a general GCD-problem). This is applied for one of  Lang's conjecture, and for new unicity theorems of Yamanoi and Corvaja-Noguchi.
