The Weinstein conjecture states that every \"Reeb\" flow on a closed manifold has at least one closed orbit. Taubes proved the three-dimensional version of this conjecture several years ago by using Seiberg-Witten theory. I will introduce several open problems concerning quantitative refinements of Taubes\' result, and survey some recent joint work that aims to address these questions.
