Kubota wrote down an explicit description of the n-fold metaplectic cover of GL(2,C) and used this to define metaplectic Eistenstein series. He established the existence of a "theta function" which is the residue of the metaplectic Eistenstein series at 2s=1+1/n. Kubota was interested in more explicit description of these residues.
Patterson has made a conjecture about the case n=4 and Hoffstein proved Patterson's conjecture in the case where the ground field is a rational functional field. We will introduce Hoffstein's work in this talk.
