The seminar is focused on derivation of optimized upwind compact difference scheme to achieve excellent spatial resolution. Added numerical dissipation in the scheme has a cusp type of feature and is strictly restricted to very high wavenumber region to control numerical instabilities and to achieve effective de-aliasing ability. More importantly, derived numerical scheme has excellent dispersion relation preserving (DRP) property and as a consequence has a small contribution of spurious waves. Applicability of the proposed scheme to simulate real flow problems has been studied by solving and validating standard benchmark problems of flow inside a lid driven cavity and transitional flow past AG24 aerofoil.
