Obtaining a space-time accurate simulation of transitional flows is a challenging task as these flows are sensitive even to smallest numerical disturbances. Besides using a high accuracy scheme with excellent spectral resolution, numerical methods used for simulating transitional flows should have dispersion relation preserving nature. Importance of use of proper numerical filters to control the dispersion and aliasing errors while studying transitional flow over an aerofoil at different Reynolds numbers will be highlighted. Present results show the transitional flow details through the bypass route as compared to classical Tollmien-Schlichting route. Effects of the simultaneous blowing and suction (SBS) strip placed on the upper aerofoil surface on the flow transition will be discussed.
