After a brief introduction to the theory of multiple zeta values, I review the work with H. Gangl and D. Zagier on the connection between double zeta values and classical elliptic modular forms on the modular group. The stress will be laid on the property of the "double Eisenstein series". I then describe its generalization to the case of level 2.(joint with K. Tasaka).
