The local theory of endoscopy, as conceived by Langlands in the 1980s, predicts explicit character relations between a reductive group and its endoscopic groups. Nevertheless, the case of nonlinear coverings of reductive groups remains largely unexplored. I will explain the special case of the twofold metaplectic covering of Sp(2n) which was first conjectured by J. Adams, then discuss some related issues.
