The distribution of the number of critical points of the Green function on tori leads to interesting geometry on the moduli space. In this talk I will discuss some of my recent joint works with C.-S. Lin on this problem. Our study provides frameworks which relate closely certain non-linear PDE (mean field equations), ODE (Lame equations), algebraic geometry, and modular functions.
