We discuss recent work in which we show the existence of hyperbolic monopoles in three dimensions with prescribed charge and arbitrary prescribed mass at infinity (the limit of the magnitude of the Higgs field). We shall relate this result to the notion of holonomy for instantons and calorons in four dimensions. We briefly describe the method of proof.
