Based on my recent survey article arXiv:2502.10970,  I will survey mirror symmetry arising from families of Calabi-Yau manifolds. In the first talk, I will define mirror symmetry of Calabi-Yau complete intersections in toric varieties and show that the definition nicely combines with the central charge formula. In the second talk, I will focus on mirror symmetry of Calabi-Yau manifolds, which does not belong to the above class.
I will describe some special families of Calabi-Yau manifolds fibered by abelian surfaces. Standard toric methods do not apply to compactify the parameter spaces of the families; however, we find a good compactification where mirror symmetry arises in a nice way. I will also show/discuss many interesting aspects of the related abelian fibered Calabi-Yau manifolds.
