In the first two lectures, the $G$-orbit Hilbert scheme $G$-$\mathrm{Hilb}(\mathbf{C}^2)$ is the scheme parametrizing all ring-theoretic $G$-orbits on $\mathbf C^2$. This is a scheme which carries all substantial information of the theory of representations of $G$. We will be led to the classical McKay correspondence, only by closely looking into it.
