We will study the paper “Fundamentals of Fluid-Structure Interaction” by Sandberg, Wernberg and Davidsson. Acoustic and structure- acoustic analysis is of great importance and is found in a number of applications. On example is the passenger compartments in automobiles. The increased use of light-weight materials in these vehicles usually make it more complicated to achieve good passenger comfort in terms of low level of interior noise. When the weight of structure is reduced, the vibrations will increased and lead to higher noise levels. In this seminar, we will introduce the basic finite element formulations of coupled fluid-structure systems and an overview of the various formulations possible. Based on the eigenvalues of each subdomain, some simple steps give a standard eigenvalue problem. We will also introduce the Fluid- Structure by the CALFEM case.
