Woman Mathematician Forum
July 8
The “Woman
Mathematician Forum” will be held on Wednesday, July 8, 2009. It is in the second week of Taida Math Month. In this activity, we consider
mathematics in a broad sense, and invite women with mathematical
background to share their unique experiences in both academic
and non-academic worlds. The purpose is on one hand to discuss
difficulties which woman mathematician may face and on the other
hand to show young female students the diverse possibilities that
mathematics can offer.
The forum
consists of two parts. The morning session will focus on non-academic
or inter-disciplinary experiences and the afternoon session will
focus on the experiences and current status of women in the academic
world of mathematics. The session will be initiated by some short talks, and then follows with the main panel
discussions.
In addition to the NTU
female alumni, we are pleased to invite Professor Ingrid Daubechies
from Princeton University to share her invaluable experience with
us. This activity is open to everybody.
